Lower My Tax Report
Your numbers tested against RRSP, FHSA, pension splitting and timing a capital gain, with the saving of each calculated in dollars and what to do next.
The calculator tells you what you'll pay. The Lower My Tax report tells you what you could pay instead, in dollars, and what to do about it before the year closes.
The short version
- Start from any of our calculators, or type your numbers in. Your figures carry over in the same browser.
- Our 2026 calculator tests the legal ways to lower the bill: topping up your RRSP, the contribution that drops you into a lower bracket, an FHSA deduction, pension splitting with a spouse, spreading a capital gain over two years.
- Every saving is calculated, not guessed. The AI only writes the plain-English explanation: what to do, by when, and what to watch out for.
- $19.00 + HST. Change your numbers and run it again (three reports per order).
Secure checkout by Stripe. Your private workspace opens right after payment. Quebec is not covered yet.
Who does the work: our software and AI read your documents, our calculator checks every number, and a second AI review checks the findings. No accountant reviews it. How we test it

What It Tests
- Your RRSP room. What filling it saves, and the smaller contribution that brings your taxable income down to the next federal bracket line, where each dollar saves the most.
- The FHSA. For first-time buyers, this year's $8,000 deduction, with tax-free withdrawals for a first home later.
- Pension splitting. The split of eligible pension income between spouses that leaves the least combined tax and OAS clawback.
- Timing a capital gain. Half this year, half next, when a sale can be timed or the payment comes in over two years.
- The OAS clawback. How much you repay at your income, and which of the above reduce it.
It also lists credits worth checking that a calculator can't measure from your inputs alone, like medical expenses or the disability amount, and tells you plainly which ideas aren't worth it for you.
What It Won't Do
No schemes, no “tax shelters” sold at seminars, nothing that needs a lawyer to explain why it's legal. If an idea needs a professional (incorporating, a family trust, a business sale), the report says so and stops there.

Lower My Tax Questions
How can I legally pay less income tax in Canada?
The common legal ways are RRSP and FHSA contributions, splitting eligible pension income with a spouse, claiming every credit you qualify for (medical, donations, disability, caregiver), and timing income such as capital gains. The Lower My Tax report measures each one against your own numbers.
Where do the savings figures come from?
From our 2026 income tax calculator, the same one behind the free calculators on this site. The AI only explains the results; it does not produce the numbers.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is a calculation of the tax effect of common options using your numbers. Investment choices and anything involving a business or trust deserve a professional.
