What Can I Claim on My Taxes in Canada?
Tax software asks you about every credit on the form, in the order the form lists them, which is the order nobody thinks in. This works the other way around: you describe your life (kids, a parent you help, a new job across the province, a renovation for Mom) and it tells you what that's worth. Ten boxes, one minute, and usually at least one thing people didn't know they could claim.
The Most Commonly Missed

Your situation doesn't fit the boxes?
Describe it in a sentence or two. The assistant tells you which credits and benefits apply, with the CRA source, and opens the right calculator.
How the Estimates Work
- Benefits (child benefit, Groceries and Essentials, workers benefit) use CRA's formulas with your income and family; see payment dates for when they arrive.
- Credits are the federal rate times the amount, reduced where income limits apply. Provincial credits come on top.
- Deductions use your marginal rate from the income tax calculator.
- Missed past years? Most credits can be claimed by changing old returns, up to 10 years back; see change my return.
Everything on credits: tax credits; on deductions: tax deductions. The same tool, opened on the problem side, is the tax problem solver.
