Review Response Pack
CRA asked for receipts? We match every receipt to what the review letter asks for, flag the gaps, write the cover letter and show how to submit it.
CRA wants to see your receipts. The Review Response Pack makes sure you send exactly what they asked for, the first time.
The short version
- Upload the review letter and your receipts. The pack lists every item CRA asked about and matches each receipt to an item.
- It flags the problems a reviewer would: wrong year, wrong person, no payee, not an official receipt, a medical period that isn't 12 months, totals that don't reach the claim.
- It writes the cover letter and tells you how to upload it all in My Account before the deadline.
- $69.00 + HST, up to four runs, so you can add the receipt you found in the glovebox and run it again.
Secure checkout by Stripe. Your private workspace opens right after payment. Quebec is not covered yet.
Who does the work: our software and AI read your documents, our calculator checks every number, and a second AI review checks the findings. No accountant reviews it. See a sample report · How we test it

A Review Letter Isn't an Audit
More on CRA review letters and how they differ from an audit.
CRA reviews a large number of returns every year, picked because a slip did not match, because of the claims on them, or at random. A review letter asks for proof of one or two claims: medical expenses, child care, moving, donations, tuition, a deduction. Send clear proof on time and it usually ends there. Send a shoebox, a partial answer or nothing at all, and CRA removes the claim and reassesses.
The difference between those two endings is mostly organization. That's the job of this pack.
What the Pack Does
- Lists what CRA asked for, item by item, with the line and the amount you claimed.
- Matches every receipt to an item and reads the payee, date, amount and who it was for.
- Flags the gaps and tells you how to fix each one: ask the clinic for a duplicate, get a year-end statement from the daycare, find the official donation receipt instead of the email thank-you.
- Writes the cover letter: what is enclosed for each item, in the order CRA asked, with blanks for your reference number.
- Tells you how to send it, and puts the deadline in your calendar.
What CRA Usually Wants
| Claim | Proof that usually works |
|---|---|
| Medical expenses (lines 33099, 33199) | Receipts showing who was paid, who the patient was, the date and the amount, for one 12-month period ending in the tax year. Insurance statements showing what the plan did not cover. |
| Child care (line 21400) | Receipts from the provider with their name and, for an individual, their social insurance number, or a business number for a daycare. |
| Donations (line 34900) | Official donation receipts from registered charities. Credit card slips and thank-you emails are not enough. |
| Moving expenses (line 21900) | Receipts for each cost, plus proof the new home is at least 40 km closer to the new work or school. |
| Tuition (line 32300) | Form T2202 from the school, or the official tuition receipt for schools outside Canada. |
| Employment expenses (line 22900) | Form T2200 signed by your employer, plus receipts for each expense. |
Your letter is the final word on what to send; the pack reads it rather than guessing.
CRA already changed your return?
If you got a notice of reassessment rather than a request for proof, Letter Check tells you whether CRA is right and whether to object, send documents or pay.
How to Send It
- Sign in to CRA My Account and choose “Submit document”.
- Enter the tax year and the case or reference number from the top right of the letter, with no spaces.
- Upload the cover letter first, then the receipts. CRA takes up to 10 files per session, each with its own file name, so name them by item.
- Save the confirmation number. No My Account? Mail copies, never originals, to the address on the letter.
- Can't make the date? Call the number at the bottom of the letter before the deadline and ask for more time.
Did the reassessment come with penalties?
If penalties or interest came from circumstances outside your control, a relief request may cancel them. We check your honest chances first.
Review Response Questions
What happens if I don’t respond to a CRA review letter?
CRA generally removes or reduces the claim it asked about and reassesses your return, which usually means a balance owing plus interest. If you need more time, call the number on the letter before the deadline.
How do I send documents to CRA online?
In My Account, choose Submit document, enter the tax year and the case or reference number from the letter, then upload your files (PDF, JPG and several other formats; up to 10 files per session) and save the confirmation number.
What if I lost a receipt?
Ask the provider for a duplicate first; clinics, daycares and charities can usually reprint them. If that is impossible, send what you have (bank or card statements) with a short written explanation.
Should I send original receipts?
No. Send clear copies or scans and keep the originals.
Does a review letter mean I am being audited?
No. A review checks specific claims, usually by letter. An audit is a broader examination of your records.
